Reason for Different Risk Settings

Postby nubchai » Mon Apr 23, 2012 2:25 pm

I noticed that earlier versions of FRP use a default of 5% risk, But 6.04 uses a default of 2%.

Can you please explain the reason for the difference?

Thanks

Dear Sandy.

Old EA (v5.27) uses only one trading strategy and 9 supported pairs. And by the way, for the last version reccomended risk was 4.25% / pair. Was 5% when the robot had only 7 supported pairs. And of course when we added 2 new pairs we had to lower the risk for each pair in order to keep our risk equal.
New robot (v6.04) uses 4 different trading strategies, 2 of them arround the clock, and 11 supported pairs. Thus drawdown is bigger. So if we would use the same risk as with the old EA we would would have a bigger risk.

Hope my explanations help.

Thanks Catalin.

I do notice that right now during the US session only 5 pair are open for trading. I assume the other pair are active during London and some of the currently open pairs move to closed status. I really like this approach as it spreads the risk but also gives you opportunities in all of the sessions.

So now the 2% risk makes sense to me.

Thank you.
